About the wood hatch

Timber is drawn with grain lines running along the length of the member. In sections and joinery details this immediately separates wood from insulation, board materials and metals sharing the same detail.

The pattern here uses long grain lines with irregular figure breaks between them, so the fill looks like timber rather than a set of ruled lines. It suits studs, joists, glulam, cladding boards and cabinetry.

Rotate the pattern to follow the direction of the member, tighten the spacing for small scale details, then export the PAT file for AutoCAD or import it as a Revit fill pattern.
