About the concrete hatch
Concrete is the most frequently hatched material on a set of construction drawings. It appears in every foundation, slab, retaining wall and column section, so the fill has to read clearly at 1:50 and still survive a 1:100 print.
The conventional CAD symbol for cast in place concrete is not a run of parallel lines. It is a field of short, randomly oriented aggregate strokes with finer speckles between them, close to the AR-CONC family shipped with AutoCAD. This generator builds that scattered aggregate field from real line families, so the exported pattern behaves like any other model pattern.
Adjust the pattern size to suit the drawing scale, rotate the field if you need to distinguish adjacent pours, then download the PAT file for AutoCAD or import it as a Revit fill pattern.
How to use the PAT file
- Download the .PAT file, or copy the definition into your own pattern library file.
- AutoCAD: place the file in a support path, then choose Hatch, Pattern type Custom and pick the pattern name.
- Revit: Manage, Additional Settings, Fill Patterns, New, Custom, then import the .PAT file and set the import scale.
- Metric patterns assume millimetre drawing units; imperial patterns assume inches.

- How do I import a concrete PAT file into AutoCAD?
- Save the downloaded .PAT file into a folder listed under Options, Files, Support File Search Path. Run HATCH, set Pattern type to Custom, pick the concrete pattern by name and keep the hatch scale at 1 to get the module shown in the preview.
- Can I use this concrete hatch in Revit?
- Yes. Go to Manage, Additional Settings, Fill Patterns, choose Model, then New and Custom, import the .PAT file and set the import scale to 1. Metric templates expect a millimetre pattern, so export in millimetres for metric projects.
- Can I change the aggregate scale?
- Yes. The pattern size parameter scales the whole aggregate field. Increase it for large scale sections and reduce it for dense small scale details so the fill does not turn into a solid grey block when printed.
